Media Manager user needs to have the system privilege, because Media Manager uses CHECKIN, CHECKOUT (storage privilege) and MOVe DRMedia (operator privilege), to prevent a common user from accessing the TSM server directly, you can save the password used for Media Manager for that specific user (The password is encrypted with a 256 bits encryption on the accessing system).
I use an IP addresses/DNS name to connect to my servers, but the Media Manager users are getting confused by this, can I create an alias?
Yes, open the hosts file on your system and create an alias name for that IP address or DNS name. Then use that name to connect to the TSM server.
